CMC sponsors a piano competition for young pianists

As part of the EPTA Ireland Piano Festival which will be held from 22-24 February 2012 at the National Concert Hall, Dublin, CMC will sponsor a competition for young pianists for the performance of works by Irish composers.

The competition is open to pianists in Fourth, Fifth and Sixth Year of the Irish second level school system or years 12-14 in Northern Ireland and students may choose any work under 7 minutes duration by an Irish composer written after 1960.

The EPTA Ireland 2012 Piano Festival is the first such event organised by the association and marks its 30th birthday during 2012. The festival aims to be an annual event which celebrates the work that piano students and teachers are doing throughout Ireland, with a particular focus this year on second level students.

The deadline for entries is 17 January and online entries are accepted from EPTA Ireland’s web site. Further information is available from the Opportunities section of our web site or directly from www.epta.ie.

Students wishing to enter should consult CMC’s graded database of works or contact us directly for advice on suitable repertoire.

Update: the competition will take place at 3pm on Friday, 24 February.
