Peter Moran performances

Composer Peter Moran has a number of performances of his works coming up over the next few weeks, following the premiere of his work Vowels by David Bremner and Elizabeth Hilliard at St. Patrick's Drumcondra this week

Following on from a performance in London last month, Moran's work Five Juice Songs, commissioned by the Juice vocal ensemble, is currently being toured by the group. Winners of Best Contemporary Classical album at last year's Independent Award, Juice is a UK trio that brings together influences from contemporary classical, jazz and pop, and are dedicated to commissioning exciting new works from a range of artists. Central to each of the Five Songs are recordings of speakers, including poets, a preacher, a train announcer and market sellers, each of which has a strong pitch centre which the ensemble then use as a basis for harmonisation. The works will receive their US premiere this month, with performances at Wesleyan University on the 9th, and in New York's new experimental music venue SubCulture on the 12th.

Following these will be another premiere, this time in Canada, of his recent piano works Dublin Miniatures, written in response to different areas of the city. They will be performed by Ensemble Negativ Zed, after having been selected to be included in Vancouver's Red Shift Music Series.
