Hilltown New Music Festival 2011
It is no easy task to organise a music festival these days. Despite these recessionary times the Hilltown New Music Festival has grown from strength to strength and the organisers have decided to add an extra day to the weekend of events. This year’s festival includes another exciting line-up of Irish and international artists awaiting lovers of new music in the grounds of Hilltown House in Castlepollard, Co. Westmeath on Friday, Saturday and Sunday 15-16-17 July 2011. A series of concerts will take place over the expanded three day festival, alongside sonic and audiovisual art installations, involving artists from Ireland, Germany, Italy, and elsewhere.
Friday’s opening night will be an unusual and special combination of the auditory and the culinary. There will be a performance by Cork based Quiet Music Ensemble, preceded by a series of sound improvisations and a tasting plate prepared by the Westmeath Convivium of Slow Food Ireland. Saturday and Sunday will offer a wide range of performances.
