A new series of Concorde’s ‘Up Close with Music’ begins on 20 January
Following a successful series of performances in intimate spaces during 2011–12, Concorde launches a new series in cooperation with the RHA Gallery. Up Close with Music II will take place on Sunday afternoons between January and April, offering listeners the chance to hear newly commissioned pieces from Irish composers alongside international repertoire from the 20th and 21st centuries.
The first event in the series takes place on 20 January at 2.30pm and features the premiere of two commissioned works by Irish composer Judith Ring and Argentinian composer Ariel Hernandez. Also included on the programme will be a trio by Derek Ball as well as works by Ada Gentile, Malcom Dedman, Luciano Berio and Sofia Gubaidulina.
Other events in the series will take place on 17 February, 24 March, and 28 April.
Concorde is supported by a Music Project Award from The Arts Council.
