The National Chamber Choir and Crash Ensemble perform works by Gerald Barry
The concerts, Barry meets Beethoven, take place in Dublin and Belfast on 21 and 22 October 2010 and feature the music of Gerald Barry performed by the National Chamber Choir and Crash Ensemble conducted by Paul Hillier, with Stephen Richardson, bass.
The programme includes the premiere of a new work by Barry, Schott and Sons, Mainz, which uses text from The Letters of Beethoven, translated and edited by Emily Anderson. Also featured are instrumental and vocal works by the composer such as the string quartet First Sorrow, Beethoven for bass voice and ensemble, and the choral works O Lord, how vain and The coming of winter.
