Dr. Clíona Doris is new chairperson of the board of the Contemporary Music Centre
Dr. Clíona Doris has been appointed as the new chairperson of the board of the Contemporary Music Centre. Clíona has been a member of the board since 2007 and replaces Mary Mc Auliffe who steps down after a long number of years of dedicated service to the board.
Dr. Clíona Doris. is a graduate of Queen's University Belfast and Indiana University, Bloomington, USA, where she graduated with a Doctor of Music Degree in Performance and Music Literature, studying with the acclaimed harpist, Susann McDonald. As a concert harpist, Clíona has extensive experience as a soloist and chamber musician in Ireland and internationally. An active exponent of contemporary music, she has premiered works by many Irish composers. She has recorded two solo CD recordings: 'a pale yellow sky' (RTÉ Lyric fm) and 'in blue sea or sky' (Riverrun Records) which feature the work of Irish composers.
Clíona is Head of Orchestral Studies at DIT Conservatory of Music and Drama in Dublin and was Acting Head of the Conservatory in 2007-10. She was Chairman of the Ninth World Harp Congress Dublin 2005 and is a board member of the World Harp Congress, Music Generation (Ireland's National Music Education Programme) and Music Network.
