A number of events marking TCD's 'In Tune' exhibition take place during February and March

in-tuneIn Tune: a Millennium of Music in Trinity College Library aims to reveal the richness of the library’s musical holdings by highlighting some of the most significant items, many of which are unique or extremely rare. The exhibition runs until 1 April 2014 at the Long Room, TCD and inclues a diverse range of exhibits, including a number of manuscripts by Irish composers.

As part of the exhibition a number of events take place from February to March.

On Thursday 13 February 2014 at 6.00pm in the Trinity Long Room Hub, Dr Ita Beausang will deliver a lecture on the pioneering 20th-century Irish female composer Ina Boyle.

The Callio Quartet perform a programme of works including Ina Boyle’s String Quartet in E minor, Brian Boydell’s Adagio & Scherzo for String Quartet and Gerald Barry’s string quartet from 2006, First Sorrow. The concert takes place on 13 March 2014 at 8.00pm in the Examination Hall, TCD.

The final event marking the exhibition is a lecture by Dr Mark Fitzgerald, Lecturer in Music at DIT Conservatory of Music, on 20th-century Irish composers. The lecture takes place on 20 March at 6.00pm in the Trinity Long Room Hub.
