The third series of Concorde's 'Up Close with Music' launches on 26 January
Irish contemporary music ensemble Concorde kick off 2014 with a third series of their hugely successful Up Close With Music series, which sees them perform new works by Irish and international composers at the RHA Gallery, Dublin. Up Close With Music allows the audience to connect with contemporary music in new ways, and provides opportunities to talk with the composers about their work.
The four concerts in the series will take place on the last Sunday of each month from January to April at 2.30 – 4.30pm, and each will include a work by an Irish composer, including a new piece for flute, bass clarinet and live electronics by Enda Bates called The Dance of your Breath and When I die, you can do what you want by Ailis Ní Ríain, for violin with video by Adela Jusic. Also on each programme will be international works, selected through the ensemble's recent call for scores.
Performers for the series are: Madeleine Staunton (flutes), Paul Roe (clarinets), Adrian Mantu (cello), Elaine Clarke (violin), Clare McCague (harp).
