Crash Ensemble - Free State 7

The Crash Ensemble’s annual concert showcasing up-and-coming Irish composers takes place on 5 April 2012 at the National Concert Hall and features ten composers’ works drawn from over 100 open-submission entries.

The programme includes works from Daniel McDermott, Conal Ryan, Garrett Sholdice, Irene Buckley, Jonathan Nangle, Eric Skytterholm Egan, Sebastian Adams, Donal Sarsfield, Emma O’Halloran, Enda Bates, and Alex Dowling, whose work Recommended by Dentists will be performed by the Dublin Laptop Orchestra and the Crash Ensemble.

The Crash Ensemble’s Free State concerts have been running since 2006 and have showcased many composers who have since gone on to become leading voices in the Irish new music scene.

The concert, which is presented in association with the National Concert Hall, is guest curated by composer Andrew Hamilton, whose commission music for people who like art was premiered at last year’s Free State concert.

CMC will present a pre-show discussion with Andrew Hamilton and some of the featured composers at 6:30pm in the Carolan Room at the National Concert Hall and will also record a series of short interviews with the composers which will be posted online in the lead-up to the event.
