The RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra premieres a new work by Andrew Hamilton on 9 November
The RTÉ commission, entitled The True Truths, will be conducted by the RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra’s principal guest conductor, Hannu Lintu, as part of the orchestra’s Friday night series of concerts at the National Concert Hall.
Andrew Hamilton writes about the work:
“It was in the work of the Swiss writer Robert Walser that I found the phrase ”the true truths“. Susan Bernofsky writing of his work says ”by a sort of linguistic hopscotch we enter a rarefied, metaphysical space where, in the words of one Walser persona, the true truths lie".
The work will be performed alongside Brahms’ Symphony No. 4 and Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 24 (with soloist Finghin Collins).
Andrew Hamilton will also participate in a pre-concert discussion with RTÉ lyric fm presenter Bernard Clarke at 7pm.
