The CMC Trophy at the Cork International Choral Festival has been won by Ad Hoc Chorale from Waterford.
Ad Hoc Chorale from Waterford under their conductor Niall Crowley were the winners of the CMC Perpetual Trophy at this year's Cork International Choral Festival.
They received the award for their performance of Molaimís Go Léir an tAon-Mhac Chríost by Irish composer Ben Hanlon in the Premier National Competition for Mixed Voice Choirs.
The trophy, an elegant modern design in silver and wood, is awarded annually by CMC for the best performance of an original choral work by an Irish composer written after 1975 and chosen from the library collection of the Contemporary Music Centre. Ad Hoc Chorale were also named named National Choir of the Festival and received the Victor Leeson Perpetual Trophy.
In a further success for Ben Hanlon, New Dublin Voices under their conductor Bernie Sherlock received the Schuman/Europe Trophy for their premiere performance of his O Frondens Virga in the Fleischmann International Trophy Competition.
