New Music Dublin: One on One concerts and Installations

A number of one on one concerts and installations will take place in various locations throughout the National Concert Hall as part of New Music Dublin Festival 2014.

The programme features a range of Irish composers and performers and includes Alex Petcu (percussion), Cora Venus Lunny (violin), Roddy O’Keefe (trombone), Izumi Kimura (piano), Courtney Orlando (violin), Michelle O’Rourke (voice) and Kate Ellis (cello).

The performances take place from 11.30am - 1.30pm in the Kevin Barry Room on Saturday, 8 March and will feature works by Philippe Hurel, Liam O’Sullivan, Daniel Barkley, Mark Hennessy, Karen Power, Anthony Wigglesworth, Louis Andriessen, Amanda Feery and Linda Buckley.

Composers, sound artists and ensembles will be bringing empty rooms and spaces around the NCH alive with a range of audiovisual installations. Artists include Gareth Averill, Jimmy Eadie, Fractal Music, Jonathan Nangle, Karen Power and the Crash Ensemble. Among the installations are a keyboard that plays visuals, a sculptural light installation, and a work that allows you to create your own piece of music using turntables.

Also featured during the weekend in the Main Foyer of the NCH will be an audiovisual station with short works on display by 13 artists selected from an earlier open call for works. Visitors will be able to select, watch and listen to these widely varied works by Marc Balbirnie, Jessica Conway, Edgar Grunewald, Marie Hanlon, Breifne Holohan, Vincent Kennedy, Trevor Knight, Ailís Ní Ríain, Paul O’Donoghue, Natasa Paterson-Paulberg, Mirjam Tally, Maura McDonnell and Mike Glennon.
