Quiet Music Ensemble features in CMC November Salon

CMC’s final new music::new Ireland salon of 2011 takes place in the Kevin Barry Room of the National Concert Hall on Wednesday, 30th November 2011. This free event  features the The Quiet Music Ensemble who will perform and discuss their unique approach to music.

The Quiet Music Ensemble is a Cork-based contemporary music group led by composer and performer John Godfrey. Launched in July 2008, the ensemble is dedicated to music that invites deep attention and perceptive listening; music that is immersive, reflective, and introspective; music that is an experimentation with, and meditation on sound itself and our relationship with it.

The QME will perform Vacuum, a work by young Kerry composer Susan Geaney commissioned for the QME in April this year. The programme will also feature a work by John Godfrey and an improvisation.

The CMC new music::new Ireland salon series aims to encourage newcomers and enthusiasts alike to engage with the music of Irish Composers. The next Salon will take place in February 2012.
