The September Kaleidoscope Night features a number of works by Irish composers

The monthly concert series, which takes place at the Odessa Club on Thursday, 6 September from 8.30pm, includes a new work for harp by Frank Corcoran performed by Andreja Malir, harpist with the RTE National Symphony Orchestra of Ireland. The work In the Deep Heart’s Core is described by the composer as “ … a mini- essay on the entire kaleidoscope of harp colours and registers.”

The programme also features clarinetist Paul Roe with actor Nuala Hayes in a performance of a recent piece Quiet by Stephen Gardner. This piece is based on a heated Dáil debate between TD Michael Ring and then Ceann Comhairle John O’Donoghue.

The evening concludes with Nick Roth’s Quintet, featuring the composer on baritone saxophone and Cora Venus Lunny, Adrian Hart (violins), Robin Panter (viola) and Kate Ellis (cello). The work was composed in direct homage to the Chazzan, or Cantor, Zawel Kwartin, who was born in the Ukrainian city of Novoarkhangelsk in 1874
