Sonorities Festival of Contemporary Music 2011
Five concerts over two days and more than twenty premieres will once again make adventurous ears tune in to Belfast to listen to the most recent work of artists from across the globe.
This Festival (8-9 April) is special in its scope and programming. An international call for works was the key mechanism for collating an archive of over 200 works from around the world. Curators from the School of Music and Sonic Arts at Queen’s University Belfast were given the task of selecting concert programmes from this pool of works. Diversity in media and aesthetics continues to be a hallmark of how new music is developing. This year’s Festival includes fixed media works which explore the three dimensional sound field of SARC’s Sonic Lab, performance works which combine both composition and improvisation, and works with live electronics.
