EPTA Piano Festival - Contemporary Irish Music Competition

Last weekend, the Contemporary Music Centre was delighted to sponsor the Contemporary Irish Music Competition as part of the Fifth EPTA Piano Festival 2016. 

Students between the ages of 11-18 played piano pieces by Micheál Ó Súilleabháin, Michael Holohan, John Gibson, Phillip Hammond and June Armstrong in both the Junior and Senior competitions. 

Adjudicated by Roy Holmes, young pianist Tiago Dennehy took the first place in the Junior Competition for his playing of The Beardless Boy by Phillip Hammond. Ella Nagy placed first in the Senior Competition, also playing The Beardless Boy
