Karen Power has a number of performances taking place during November

Currently based in Berlin as artist in residence through a DAAD award, the performances taking place in Ireland include a number of premieres.

Her work for flute and electronics, relocating elk…by train (2011), will be performed by Carin Levine on 5 November as part of lunchtime concert in SARC, Belfast. The work featured on CMC’s promotional release, new music::new Ireland as well as Karen Power’s debut CD, is it raining while you listen.

A new work for piano and ice, loaded silence, will be premiered by Isabelle O’Connell, also at SARC, on 19 November and in Dublin on 21 November at a concert presented by the Association of Irish Composers. Commissioned with an Arts Council Commission Award, the work is based on material recorded during the composer’s residency in the Arctic Circle in 2013.

On 20 November at UCC, Cork a lunchtime concert by Canadian string quartet, Bozzini Quator, features the premiere of her work for string quartet, soundscapes and live electronics, sounds of time and place (2014). The work was commissioned with an Arts Council Commission Award in 2013 by Bozzini Quator.
