Linda Buckley’s ‘Fall Approaches’ receives its UK premiere
The work will be performed by the Ruthless Jabiru chamber orchestra at Union Chapel, London at 7:30pm on 14 October.
Ruthless Jabiru is London’s all-Australian chamber orchestra. The ensemble was established in 2011 by Australian conductor Kelly Lovelady, and consists entirely of Australian professional musicians based in the UK.
Originally written for choir and electronics in 2007 and arranged for string orchestra, Linda Buckley’s Fall Approaches is inspired by Icelandic poetry, in particular the practice of ‘rimur’ chanting.
The performance takes place as part of the orchestra’s concert Maralinga Lament, and also includes works by Samuel Barber, Paul Stanhope, Matthew Hindson and Arvo Pärt. Tickets are £16 advance from the Union Chapel online store or £18 at the door.
