Works by Garrett Sholdice and Linda Buckley feature in May Kaleidoscope.
The Kaleidoscope night is heralding the arrival of spring with a world premiere of a work by Garrett Sholdice. Written for cello and vibes, and performed by Kate Ellis and Roberto Oliveira, “Ladrang for Kate Ellis” is a short meditative work inspired by the Javanese gamelan. May's evening of music will also include the beautiful “Fiol” by Linda Buckley, a string trio inspired by the hardanger fiddle, which explores the beauty and resonance of the violin, viola and cello. Kate Ellis and Cliodhna Ryan, co-curators of Kaleidoscope will be joined by Cian O’Duill on viola, who will be traveling from London to join them. The evening will close with the internationally renowned composer Dan Trueman on fiddle and Monica Mugan on guitar. This pairing, known as Trollstilt, have performed throughout the world and their powerful music ranges from the dark and introspective to the bright and energetic.
