David Coonan awarded CMC Residency at the Centre Culturel Irlandais in Paris

Following a call among CMC registered composers, David Coonan has been selected for a residency at the Centre Culturel Irlandais in Paris

The composer residency, in association with CMC, is part of the CCI’s annual residency programme for 2020–21 and will enable the composer to spend time at the centre to work on a number of composition projects.

I'm thrilled to be awarded this residency and am deeply grateful to both the Centre Culturel Irlandais and the Contemporary Music Centre for such a unique opportunity. This residency will afford me the time and space to start work on a new collaboration with visual artist Niamh McCann. I'm incredibly excited to immerse myself in the vibrant and cultural city of Paris and am looking forward to a creative and productive time among fellow artists at the CCI.

The partnership between CMC and the Centre Culturel Irlandais for this composer residency was established in 2015, and previous recipients include Greg Caffrey, Ailís Ní Riaín and Finola Merivale.

David Coonan joins 33 other artists across different artistic backgrounds who will each spend from one to three months in Paris to develop their proposed projects.
