Una Santa Oscura by Ian Wilson will be performed as part of the Dublin Theatre Festival this year

Una Santa Oscura

The work, which is directed by Tom Creed and performed by violinist Ioana Petcu-Colan, will be performed at the Smock Alley Theatre, Temple Bar from 8-10 October.

Ian Wilson's Una Santa Oscura is a multi-sensory involving music and visuals. Originally inspired by the life and music of 12th century visionary Hildegard of Bingen, this evocative combination creates a tangible sense of a life explored on stage. Described by the composer as 'a piece of acoustic theatre', the meditative and moving wordless performance combines virtuoso violin playing with a haunting electronic soundscape.

The 45-minute work was commissioned under the Arts Council's Projects: New Work award and was premiered earlier this year at the Project Arts Centre. The work will be staged at this year's Ulster Bank Dublin Theatre Festival as part of the ReViewed strand, a showcase of successful Irish productions restaged in partnership with Culture Ireland and Irish Theatre Institute.
