The 3rd Women and Music in Ireland conference takes place on 10 May in St Patrick’s College, Drumcondra

With a keynote address by British composer Nicola LeFanu, the conference features a varied programme of talks and discussions on the subject of women in music in Ireland. Included in the schedule are talks on Irish women composers Ina Boyle, Rhoda Coghill, and Joan Trimble.

CMC will chair a panel discussion, entitled ‘Women as musicians and composers in Ireland and abroad: do the labels matter?’, which will include contributions from among others composer Rhona Clarke and St Patrick’s College Drumcondra music lecturer and CMC Board member, Dr Patricia Flynn.

The Women and Music in Ireland conference seeks to raise awareness of the contribution of women to all areas of music in Ireland. Previous conferences were held in NUI Maynooth in 2010 and the Royal Irish Academy of Music in 2012.
