CMC presents Musical Tales, a series of concerts in Dublin City Libraries during April 2014

ifyouevergo_flyer-1The concerts take place on 22 and 23 April 2014 as part of the Dublin City Council One City One Book initiative and feature a programme of Irish works curated and presented by composer Benjamin Dwyer.

The programme celebrates the chosen book If Ever You Go: a map of Dublin in poetry and song for One City One Book 2014 and explores the influence of Irish poets on Irish composers. Presented in association with the Royal Irish Academy of Music (RIAM), the concerts features a choir of eight singers conducted by Lynsey Callaghan with flute soloist Miriam Kaczor.

Featuring works inspired by poets James Joyce, Brendan Kennelly, W.B Yeats, Seamus Heaney, and Máire Mhac an tSaoi, the programme will include music by Stephen Gardner, Martin O’Leary, Jane O’ Leary, Donnacha Dennehy, John McLachlan, Ian Wilson and Jerome de Bromhead.

Lynsey Callaghan is undertaking a masters in performance at the Royal Irish Academy of Music, in conjunction with Trinity College, Dublin. She is Conductor in Training 2012–14 for the RTÉ Performing Groups and the Association of Irish Youth Choirs, and currently conducts the Trinity Singers and Fingal County Youth Orchestra.

Miriam Kaczor began playing the flute since the age of six and is currently in her second year of a BA Performance Degree at the Royal Irish Academy of Music under William Dowdall.
