Ergodos presents a night of music celebrating the career of composer Linda Buckley

Dublin-based production company Ergodos are hosting an evening concert on 16 June 2012 at the National Concert Hall based around the music and inspirations of composer Linda Buckley. The concert, entitled Here I am, features a mix of the composer’s own new works and arrangements of music that has inspired the composer performed by Ergodos Musicians Michelle O’Rourke (voice), Jonathan Sage (clarinet), Kate Ellis (cello), and Michael McHale (piano).

Central to the concert is a new song cycle, I Have Five Things To Say, commissioned by vocalist Michelle O’Rourke. The work sets English translations of poetry by a Sufi mystic poet, Jaluluddin Rumi. These poems are a perfect match for Buckley’s music, already known for its emotional sensitivity and delicacy. Alongside this will be music by Duruflé, Sigur Ros and arrangements of Javanese Gamelan and sean-nós music by Linda’s sister Irene Buckley, Michelle O’Rourke and Ergodos directors Benedict Schlepper-Connolly and Garret Sholdice.

The concert takes place at 8:30pm on Saturday, 16 June 2012 in the Kevin Barry Room at the National Concert Hall. Tickets cost €12/€8 and are available from the NCH box office.
