Pianist Isabelle O Connell performs new Irish piano music in New Zealand.

Pianist Isabelle O Connell is currently promoting her solo CD Reservoir, with a tour of New Zealand. The tour features concerts in Hamilton, Te Awamutu, Gisborne and Wellington and was made possible with support from Culture Ireland. Isabelle brings contemporary Irish piano music from Jane O Leary, Ian Wilson, Ealine Agnew, Donnacha Dennehy and John Buckley to New Zealand Audiences until June 3.

Her debut CD, RESERVOIR, was released on the Diatribe label last year to critical acclaim and features works for solo piano by nine contemporary Irish composers. Described as "the young Irish piano phenom" by the New Yorker, she has a reputation for being a dynamic interpreter and energetic advocate of music by 20th and 21st century composers, regularly commissioning new works and is often invited to give workshops.

Irish audiences will have the opportunity to hear Isabelle when she performs in The Solo Series Live concert tour with renowned chamber musicians: Paul Roe (clarinet); Simon Jermyn (bass guitar) and Izumi Kimura (piano), performing new work by Irish, Japanse and European Composers in the Regional Cultural Centre, Donegal; the Triskel Arts Centre, Cork; the Mermaid Arts Centre, Bray and in St Mary’s Church, part of Eigse Arts Festival, Carlow, 16 – 19 June 2011 inclusive. This tour is presented by CMC and Diatribe records.
