CMC will attend the American Choral Directors Association 2017 Conference

In a strategic effort to target greater programming of new choral music from Ireland in international concerts and events, CMC Ireland is participating in the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA) 2017 Conference in Minneapolis.

Susan Brodigan, CMC's Library Co-ordinator, will attend the conference, which takes place from 8-11 March, and form part of the Choral Ireland showcase on the Friday, 10 March as part of the conference.  CMC will also co-host the Choral Ireland stand throughout the conference, in partnership with the Association of Irish Choirs and University Concert Hall Limerick.

Speaking about the Choral Ireland showcase and CMC Ireland’s partners, Evonne Ferguson, CMC's director said:

‘Contemporary Music Centre, Ireland is delighted to partner with the Association of Irish Choirs and University Concert Hall Limerick in presenting at the ACDA Conference and co-hosting the Choral Ireland stand.

This is the first time that all three organisations are attending this important conference, where they will present a Choral Ireland showcase and co-host a stand.  CMC Ireland is particularly delighted that, at the Choral Ireland showcase, Dr. Anne Barry will lead delegates in a sing-through of a selection of choral music from Ireland and, on behalf of the Choral Ireland partners, will give a vibrant presentation on contemporary choral music from Ireland.’

‘CMC will be highlighting contemporary choral music from Ireland at the Choral Ireland stand at the ACDA Conference,' says Evonne Ferguson. 'The unique choral anthology, Choirland, is the product of a fruitful and ongoing partnership between Contemporary Music Centre, Ireland and the Association of Irish Choirs and Chamber Choir Ireland, and includes support notes for conductors and a complementary recording.

To further assist choral conductors in their search for new and fresh contemporary repertoire, CMC has created a series of graded catalogues of choral music from Ireland in collaboration with Irish composer Rhona Clarke and choral directors Dr Anne Barry (Director of Choral Activities at Lake Forest College, IL) and Dr Desmond Earley (Artistic Director, University College Dublin Choral Scholars).’
