The Ivernia Orchestra performs music by Irish composers in Manchester

The newly-formed orchestra will perform music by Elaine Agnew, Ailís Ní Ríain, Mícheál Ó Súilleabháin, and John Kinsella as part of the Manchester Irish Festival on 11 March 2012.

The Ivernia Orchestra was founded by the young Irish conductor, Sinead Hayes. Described as “Manchester’s Irish Orchestra”, the orchestra is made up from Irish musicians who are based in Manchester and the UK.

The concert includes the UK Premiere of John Kinsella’s Symphony No. 9, and also features the Manchester-based traditional musician Michael McGoldrick performing Mícheál Ó Súilleabháin’s work for Traditional flute and orchestra, Oileán / Island.

The concert takes place at Manchester Catherdral at 7:30pm and tickets cost £10/7 and are available online or by phoning +44 843 208 0500.
