The Irish Composers’ Collective present the Rhombus Ensemble
On Wednesday, 7 March 2012, the Irish Composers’ Collective (ICC) present a concert featuring the Rhombus Ensemble in the Jazz Central Club in the Central Hotel. The concert, which is a repeat of the ICC’s highly successful programme from last December, features works by Dylan Rynhart, Donal McErlaine, Dennis Wyers, Peter Moran, Anna Murphy and Sebastian Adams.
The composers have found a different path towards writing in a jazz idiom and consolidating their art music backgrounds with the freedom inherent in jazz. Works performed will include Dylan Rynhart’s Jim, a “swing-style” setting of a Hilaire Belloc Poem; a setting of a text by H.P. Lovecraft, Polaris, by Anna Murray; Donal MacErlaine’s opera for narrator and ensemble, described as “a damning indictment of the farce that is Irish politic system …”; and a work by the leader of the Rhombus ensemble Dennis Wyers.
Further information is available from the Irish Composers’ Collective web site or directly from Anna Murray, email press@irishcomposerscollective.com.
