Contemporary Music from Ireland, Volume Nine
A special video presentation on CMC's latest promotional CD in the series, Contemporary Music from Ireland, featuring interviews with a number of composers whose work is included on the CD.
The Contemporary Music from Ireland promotional CD series gives a snapshot of what is happening right now in contemporary music in Ireland. Volume Nine features ten works and will be distributed nationally and internationally to radio stations, festivals, concert promoters, performers, libraries and universities.
Featuring established names such as John Buckley, Ronan Guilfoyle, and John McLachlan, the disc also presents music by several composers with a growing reputation in new music circles—David Fennessy, Judith Ring and Jonathan Nangle. A number—Michael Ball, Gareth Williams, Christopher Norby and Bill Whelan—also feature in the series for the first time and we are delighted to have the opportunity to present their work.
As well as showcasing the vitality of Irish composition, the CD features many national and international performing groups and individuals, all of whom are committed and active perfomers of new music. The impressive line up of performers includes flute and guitar duo William Dowdall and John Feeley, clarinetist Deirdre O'Leary, pianists Alexej Gorlatch and Maria McGarry, new music ensemble Concorde, and the Black Dyke Band, among others.
