Panorama Series: Navarra Quartet, Martin Moriarty (viola) & Aoife Burke (cello)
Kevin Barry Recital Room, National Concert Hall

Featuring: Navarra Quartet; Martin Moriarty, viola; Aoife Burke, cello.
Inspired by some of the most beloved cities, the Panorama Series brings audiences on a musical tour exploring place and the music it inspired.
The Navarra Quartet, hailed for their poetry and dynamism, join forces with leading Irish artists Aoife Burke (cello) and Martin Moriarty (viola) for a celebration of the cities of Paris, Cork and Florence.
Commencing in a chateau near Paris, the trials and tribulations of love are at play in Strauss’s Capriccio, as Flamand competes with his poet rival for the hand of the delectable Madeleine. We then come closer to home with R.A Mould’s dedication to the River Lee, running through Cork city. Audiences will be treated to a world premiere performance of the sextet version of the Voice of the Lee, originally for string quartet and arranged especially for this concert. To finish, one of the most loved works for sextet - Souvenir de Florence, written at the height of Tchaikovsky’s career, a tour de force of power and passion.
Programme
R. Strauss - Sextet from Capriccio, Op. 85
R. A. Moulds - The Voice of the Lee
