NCH Presents: Stanford Centenary Series curated by Finghin Collins (1)
Kevin Barry Recital Room, National Concert Hall

A series of three chamber concerts, curated by pianist Finghin Collins, marking the centenary of the death of the Irish composer Sir Charles Villiers Stanford.
The first concert presents a flute sonata by one of Stanford’s teachers, the German composer Carl Reinecke, as well as a short violin piece by Brahms, one of Stanford’s idols. The programme also includes a short quartet work by one of his finest pupils, Frank Bridge. We also hear Stanford’s own song-cycle “A Sheaf of Songs from Leinster” as well as his tuneful Fantasy for clarinet quintet.
Featuring artists: Ríona Ó Duinnín, flute; Finghin Collins, piano; Sharon Carty, mezzo-soprano; John Finucane, clarinet; Contempo Quartet.
Presented by NCH.
