Festival of Flutes 2024: Aisling Agnew

Aisling Agnew, flutist, will give the premiere of a new work by Jane O’Leary at the Festival of Flutes in Derry on Monday, 1 July.   'wings in the air [sciathain san aer]' is a set of 3 pieces for solo flute, taking inspiration from the movement of wings in the air.  Birds, bees, and butterflies hover and soar, carrying us along as we follow their flight.  Fragments of poetry by Emiy Dickinson provide an introduction to each of the pieces.  The work is dedicated to Aisling Agnew, whose lunchtime recital takes place in the New Gate Arts & Culture Centre, Derry at 12:30 pm.  

Aisling is accompanied by pianist Fionnuala Ward.
