The Body That Breathes- a silent concert experience.
Concept /Direction by Jane Hackett.
Devised alongside George Higgs and Dublin Theatre of the Deaf.
An interactive, multi-sensory concert performance exploring sound from varying auditory perceptions, devised in collaboration with Dublin Theatre of the Deaf for hearing and Deaf audiences - *featuring new commissions, installations and live performance*.
This concert aims to provide an opportunity for both Deaf and hearing audiences to engage with sound in an exploratory way, guiding them on an interactive sound journey through the senses.
This immersive, vibratory work features three new sound compositions by George Higgs, Lara Gallagher and Jane Hackett/Adrian Hart alongside existing contemporary performance art works which combine movement, installations and live performance. Through research and engagement with members of Dublin Theatre of the Deaf we aim to create an experimental, interactive, contemporary music performance that challenges how we experience sound on both an individual and collective level. Violinist and Director, Jane Hackett will be joined by performance artists, Lianne Quigley, Alvean Jones and George Higgs and dancers, Lucia Kickham and Aoibhinn O’ Dea to facilitate a concert in which the audience are encouraged to experience the performance through ‘silence’.
We aim to provide a safe sound space for all audiences and to open up the possibilities of creating more accessibility in relation to musical concerts and concert opportunities.
This event takes place on 1st November and 2nd November at 8pm in Unit 44, Prussia St. Dublin and is made possible by the Arts Council of Ireland’s Music Project Award.
