Sligo International Chamber Music Festival 1st - 3rd May 2021

1 May 2021 14:00 - 3 May 2021 21:00

Much as we had hoped to be back in the wonderful settings of St Columba's Church Drumcliffe and The Model for this year's Sligo International Chamber Music Festival, we will instead be presenting to you a series of four concerts over the May bank holiday weekend, directly into your home, wherever you are!

Join the Vogler Quartet at the first ever online Sligo International Chamber Music Festival, for a wonderful concert recorded live in the Delphi Theatre in Berlin. As well as bringing to you their signature high quality performance style, you will also have the chance to hear them talk about their hometown Berlin, as they ramble around iconic parts of the city and, with some lively interaction, recount their connection to these well-known spots.

Along with the Vogler Quartet, the Festival programme will include performances from some of the finest Irish and international musicians including Fionnuala Moynihan (piano), Vashti Hunter (cello) Jonian Ilias Kadesha (violin), Dermot Dunne (accordion), Mia Cooper (violin), Nick Roth (saxophone) and Malachy Robinson (double bass). Once again, the Festival presents a rich palette of music spanning the classical, romantic, modern and contemporary periods featuring composers Beethoven, Mussorgsky, Kodaly, Tchaikovsky, Rhona Clarke, Dvořák and newly commissioned works by Irish composers Judith Ring, Deirdre Gribbin and Benedict Schlepper-Connolly.

All concerts were recorded live, in compliance with current regulations, at the Delphi Theatre, Berlin and the National Gallery of Ireland and we would like to thank the management of both of these iconic buildings for allowing us the opportunity to record the 2021 Sligo International Chamber Music Festival.

Taking place from Saturday May 1st to Monday 3rd May 2021 Sligo International Chamber Music Festival continues to be one of Ireland's leading chamber music events.
We hope you enjoy this entertaining and varied programme of concerts. It might be online this year, but we will see you in Sligo in 2022. Nothing will ever replace the magic of Drumcliffe and its surrounding area, the seascape of Rosses Point where so many of our festival guests stay, the contemporary environment of The Model, home of the Niland Collection, the restaurants, shops, beaches and walks of Sligo, not to mention and central to a SICMF experience, the scones and pies in Drumcliffe Tea House and Craft Shop.

See our website and follow us on social media for updates of times, programme details and ticketing.
As producers of the festival, Sligo County Council Arts Service acknowledges our association with key stakeholders since the festival was established in 2000: Vogler Quartet, Arts Council of Ireland, Contemporary Music Centre, RTE, Artscope Ltd, Drumcliffe Vestry & Drumcliffe Tea House, and our recent partner venue The Model, home of the Niland Collection.

Enjoy!
