Xenia Pestova Bennett - Calm, Balance and Strength: Breathwork for Anxiety Management

The second in a series of CMC Continuing Professional Development (CPD) events throughout November 2020 features Calm, Balance and Strength: Breathwork for Anxiety Management with pianist and wellbeing coach Xenia Pestova Bennett.

Our lives and identities as creative practitioners are profoundly disrupted by the global pandemic.  While the rates of anxiety and depression continue to rise, support for our wellbeing is not always readily available.  CMC is providing this session to assist composers and other contemporary music specialists in coping with some of the challenges they may be facing due to Covid-19. Following a general overview of anxiety management with CMC’s Linda O’Shea Farren, Xenia will introduce anxiety management techniques based on simple and proven breathing techniques.  Participants will be introduced to the ‘anatomy’ of the breath, learn how to strengthen the lungs and immune system and explore some of the science behind breathwork for balancing the autonomic nervous system.  Participants will also be guided through a series of practical breathing exercises that can be used on a daily basis.

Those who sign up to participate are encouraged to email specific situations, challenges, questions, etc. in advance to rsvp@cmc.ie.  All questions are valid - questions may relate to specific problems or can be general in nature.

Registration is free of charge to participants, and all interested are welcome to participate.  Register here
