Finding A Voice Festival, Clonmel, Tipperary, runs from Wednesday 8th - Sunday 12th of March 2023.

A four-day festival of music by women composers through the ages and around the world, in celebration of International Women's Day. Featuring performances by Musici Ireland, ConTempo Quartet, Nathan Sherman & Alex Petcu, Aylish Kerrigan, Antonio Oyarzabal, Eleanor Kelly, Yonit Kosovske & Catherine Redding, among others.

Wednesday 8th March 2023 [International Women’s Day]

  • Musici Ireland: Chamber music for wind quintet at its finest from this exciting female-led collective that takes pride in presenting interesting and evocative programmes, featuring a work by Joan Trimble

Thursday 9th March 2023

  • Eleanor Kelly (guitar): Guitar music with a Latin American twist by the 2023 Finding a Voice Artist-in-Residence, Eleanor Kelly

Friday 10th March 2023

  • Yonit Kosovske (piano), Catherine Redding (soprano): A perfect lunchtime recital featuring Lili Boulanger’s stunning song cycle Clairières dans le ciel 
  • Aylish Kerrigan (mezzo), Adrian Mantu (cello), David Bremner (piano) and Joe O’Farrell (flute): The world première of Gráinne Mulvey’s …until the women are free (2022), based on speeches by remarkable Irish women, and especially written for celebrated Irish-American singer Aylish Kerrigan

Saturday 11th March 2023

  • Antonio Oyarzabel (piano) : Internationally acclaimed concert pianist and champion of women composers, Antonio Oyarzabel visits Ireland for the first time to perform music from his ground-breaking album, La Muse Oubliée
  • ConTempo Quartet & Eleanor Kelly (guitar): Festival favourites ConTempo Quartet are known for their passionate and dynamic performances.  They return to Clonmel for an evening of vibrant chamber music from around the world featuring music by Linda Buckley

Sunday 12th March 2023

  • Claire Duff (violin) & Malcolm Proud (harpsichord): Irish Baroque Orchestra leader Claire Duff continues to dazzle with her exploration of neglected music from the 17th and 18th centuries, alongside renowned early music pioneer Malcolm Proud
  • Hifilutin Flute Quartet: A fun, free afternoon concert showing off the full versatility of the flute family. Expect the unexpected!
  • Nathan Sherman (viola) and Alex Petcu (percussion): The festival closes with a bang with this dynamic duo featuring music for viola, percussion and electronics.  Not one, not two, but three world premières of works by Irish composers Siobhán Cleary and Áine Mallon and the winning piece in the 2023 composition competition, in association with Contemporary Music Centre, Ireland
