Grant Davidson Ford works as a sound artist, composing and analyzing spatial music at the Sonic Arts Research Centre, Queen's University, Belfast. He completed a Masters in Composition with Donnacha Dennehy at Trinity College, Dublin, writing his dissertation on the practices of Arvo Part, Steve Reich and Louis Andriessen. In Montreal, Canada he studied with Rosemary Mountain and Andrew Homzy at Concordia University, graduating with distinction.
Before returning to study, he was the vocalist and creative director of the NotreDame deGrace Orkestra, Trust, Twilight Rituals and other notable urban-music ensembles in Toronto, London and Montreal. He has produced and appeared on numerous original recordings and was at one time signed to EMI Music. His popular music has been performed for broadcast in North America, Europe, Russia and Japan.
Current research interests include poly-modality, modular and multi-narrative composition, alternative performance environments, the re-contextualization of cultural iconography and music in a three-dimensional auditory field.
