Ulster Youth Choir - Choral Composition Programme
Why not develop your choral writing through an individually tailored programme?
Working under the mentorship of award winning composer Brian Irvine, UYC is inviting composers to participate in a new series of workshops writing for a choir. The programme will focus on developing specific compositional techniques relevant to contemporary choral writing. The sessions will explore instigating and devising individually tailored processes in relation to composition - processes that are thrilling, enjoyable, fun and creatively rewarding and will ensure a lifelong love of making. Composers will also examine identity and individual aesthetics in choral writing as well as the role and manipulation of new technologies and notational software.
The sessions will be held in Malone Presbyterian Church Hall, 452 Lisburn Rd Belfast from 10am-1pm on the following dates unless otherwise stated:
12 May (St Malachys Church Hall Alfred Street Belfast)
The final works will be performed by the Ulster Youth Chamber Choir on the weekend of 7 & 8 July and, subject to funding, may be recorded.
