Eighth Blackbird’s Creative Lab: Application
Grammy-award winning ensemble Eighth Blackbird announces the Blackbird Creative Lab, a two-week creative immersion and ongoing community of practice for contemporary classical musicians and composers with expansive artistic vision who are seeking collaboration, mentorship, and a viable life as an artist. The goals of the Lab are to help contemporary musicians develop artist-entrepreneur skills; develop performance and production skills; gain an overview about curating and branding; and instill a sense of responsibility to cultivate and foster future generations of artists.
Guest faculty for 2023 will include Viet Cuong, UNLV music composition faculty and American Composer-in-Residence of the California Symphony; Jon Holland, composer and Jack G. Buncher Chair and head of the School of Music at Carnegie Mellon University; Joan Tower, seminal Grammy-winning composer, pianist and conductor; Christopher Murrah, Princess Grace award-winning theater and opera director; and Pamela Z, Guggenheim award-winning composer/performer and media artist.
