DCU announces Open Call for Artist Commissions
DCU has announced that it will commission three new socially-engaged artistic works as part of ANAM, the University’s Arts and Culture platform. With these commissions, each worth €8,500, ANAM aims to encourage imaginative collaborations between artists and the diversity of communities connected with DCU, including research staff, students, local community members, schools and other groups.
Proposals are welcomed from artists, collectives and cultural organisations who are interested in developing and presenting such socially-engaged work. Those interested in applying are asked to consider what the idea of ‘community’ means in a post-COVID world. They might also consider how artists can engage in a meaningful way with communities while practicing the ‘new normal’ of social distancing.
It is hoped that the commissions will result in impactful artistic interventions that get their inspiration from, and speak to, local communities.
The commissions, which are part-funded by the Arts Council, will involve two phases: a development phase to mid December 2020, and a completion phase to end of April 2020.

An online information session for interested artists will take place on Monday 7th September. To register for the information session, or for other information, email firstname.lastname@example.org.
