Kevin Volans on his new concerto for uilleann pipes and orchestra [video]

Kevin Volans' Concerto for Uilleann Pipes and large orchestra, 'Gol Na mBan San Ár', was commissioned by RTÉ for uilleann piper David Power and the RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra.
The work is scheduled for premiere on 22 September at the New Music Dublin Defrosted festival.
In a short interview recorded in February 2018 in CMC, Volans talks about the work and some of the challenges he faced when composing for uilleann pipes.
