CMC presents 'Contemporary Notation in Sibelius Clinic' with Anselm McDonnell

7 July 2020 15:00

The first in a series of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) events throughout July features a Notation in Sibelius software Clinic with composer and guitarist Anselm McDonnell. The clinic will focus on how to overcome quirks of notation software in the field of new music.

Notation software is a vital tool for professionals involved in the field of new music. However, it comes with limitations, quirks and features that can be frustrating when trying to typeset ideas, particularly within the idiom of contemporary notation. CMC is providing this clinic to assist with some of the challenges that composers and other contemporary music specialists may face when typesetting new music in Sibelius software.

Composer and guitarist Anselm McDonnell has experience in finding engraving solutions to a variety of notational problems. Following a general overview, and using shared screen, Anselm will address specific situations or challenges in relation to Sibelius software that participants may suggest.

Those who sign up to participate are encouraged to email specific situations, challenges, questions, etc. in relation to Sibelius software in advance to rsvp@cmc.ie. All questions are valid - questions may be related to specific notational problems (if they are, please send in a photo / screenshot / description of what you are trying to do), or can be about general aspects of typesetting, such as how to create custom noteheads/layouts/graphic scores, or suggestions to improve workflow.

All interested are welcome to participate.
