Composer Lab 2018 public workshop

9 April 2018 10:00

National Concert Hall

Composer Lab is an initiative developed by the RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra and the Contemporary Music Centre.

It is aimed at emerging composers who have had their work performed professionally but who have not yet had the chance to work with a symphony orchestra. It has been designed to provide them with a creative and open environment in which to deepen their understanding of writing for these forces.

Ahead of a world premiere performance of new works completed as part of Composer Lab 2018, participant composers* Anne-Marie O'Farrell and Maria Minguella bring their individual work-in-progress to the stage for a public workshop. With feedback given to the composers from acclaimed Irish composer David Fennessy in the role of mentor, conductor Gavin Maloney and members of the orchestra, this public workshop promises to be a fascinating insight into the challenges and complexities of writing for orchestra.
This is a free ticketed event, however, tickets are limited so early booking is advised. Booking is through the National Concert Hall here or by phone on (01) 417 0000.
