Nora Barnacle House

On Culture Night, 22nd September, composer and sound artist Francis Heery will present Distant Music at the Nora Barnacle House in Galway City. The work is a live installation, specifically written for the house and commissioned by Galway City Council, which reflects on Nora Barnacle’s relationship with Galway and with James Joyce. Distant Music takes two songs that feature in Joyce’s work – The Lass of Aughrim, from The Dead, and The Ballad of Persse O’ Reilly, from Finnegans Wake – and re-configures them into a dream-like sonic ‘presence’ within the house.

Distant Music runs from 5PM to 10:30PM, Friday September 22nd, at the Nora Barnacle House.
