The Irish composer-pianist Philip Martin has written more than one hundred and fifty songs, most of them settings of Irish poetry, for his wife, the soprano Penelope Price Jones. This CD contains the song-cycles Under the Harvest Moon, On Wings of Ebony and Echoes under the Stones as well as fourteen other songs to poems by W. B. Yeats, Stevie Smith and Shakespeare. |
