In advance of RTÉ's first Horizons concert, which features the premiere of Kevin O'Connell's first symphony on 11 January 2011, conductor Gavin Maloney talks about the work and performing new music.

CMC EVENTS
In CMC's platform for performance, on Wednesday 9 February, Softday will launch the recording of their latest work Marbh Chrois, a ground breaking art and science project which examines the issues of climate change in Co. Donegal. Softday will launch the recording with a special live experimental performance. Further details will be available shortly on CMC's web site.

The West Cork Chamber Music Festival in partnership with CMC announces a composer competition for young Irish composers.

Artists are invited to submit work as part of the Just Listen sound art event, which takes place in Cork and Limerick during April/May 2011. The deadline is 20 January 2011.
