For Immediate ReleaseThe Contemporary Music Centre presents Solo Series Live concert tour in association with Diatribe Records9 May 2011 The Solo Series Live concert tour features four internationally renowned chamber musicians: Isabelle O'Connell (piano); Paul Roe (clarinet/bass clarinet); Simon Jermyn (bass guitar) and Izumi Kimura (piano), performing new work by Irish, Japanese, US and European Composers in the Regional Cultural Centre, Donegal; the Triskel Arts Centre, Cork; the Mermaid Arts Centre, Bray and in St Mary's Church, part of Eigse Arts Festival, Carlow, 16 - 19 June 2011 inclusive. Solo Series Live is presented with funding from the Music Network Performance and Touring Award and is part of the Contemporary Music Centre's 25th anniversary celebrations taking place throughout 2011. It is presented in association with Diatribe Records and it is a live selection from the Solo Series I box-set collection produced by Diatribe Records in association with the Contemporary Music Centre in 2010. "As a national organization we strive as much as possible to be proactive regionally and thanks to the Music Network Performance and Touring Award we are able to bring this incredible journey into the world of contemporary music to four separate regions of Ireland this Summer" says Karen Hennessy, Promotion Manager, The Contemporary Music Centre. Each musician will perform a solo recital as well as a series of group improvisations. Composers featured on the tour include Irish composers Donnacha Dennehy, Ed Bennett, Ronan Guilfoyle, Greg Caffrey, Gerald Barry and Simon Jermyn, alongside Japanese composers Takashi Yoshimatsu, Toshinao Sato, Mamoru Fujieda, Akira Miyoshi and American composer Wayne Siegel. Paul Roe a keen advocate of contemporary music has been playing contemporary music for over 20 years throughout Europe, Asia and America. Born in Yokohama, Japan, Izumi Kimura has been playing the piano since age three, she currently lives in Dublin, where she regularly performs and teaches piano. Irish pianist Isablle O'Connell has developed an international career as a soloist and chamber musician that has taken her across four continents. Born in Ireland Simon Jermyn is an electric bassist /guitarist and composer living in New York who regularly tours worldwide. Diatribe Records is Ireland's leading record label for contemporary music. Since the formation of its current organization in 2007 it has produced a series of critically acclaimed recordings, from artists working across a diverse spectrum of genres, under the umbrella of contemporary music.
