The Contemporary Music Centre appoints new Chairperson, Dr. Cliona Doris

The Contemporary Music Centre appoints Dr. Clíona Doris as the new chairperson of the board. Clíona has been a member of the board since 2007 and replaces Mary T. McAuliffe who steps down after a long number of years of dedicated service.
Dr. Clíona Doris is a graduate of Queen's University Belfast and Indiana University, Bloomington, USA, where she graduated with a Doctor of Music Degree in Performance and Music Literature, studying with the acclaimed harpist, Susann McDonald. As a concert harpist, Clíona has extensive experience as a soloist and chamber musician in Ireland and internationally. An active exponent of contemporary music, she has premiered works by many Irish composers. Clíona is Head of Orchestral Studies at DIT Conservatory of Music and Drama in Dublin and was Acting Head of the Conservatory in 2007-10. Cliona is a board member of the World Harp Congress, Music Generation (Ireland's National Music Education Programme) and Music Network.

The Board of the Contemporary Music Centre are Dr. Cliona Doris, Chariperson; Professor Mícheál Ó Súilleabháin; Jacqueline Kelly; Róisín O'Connell; Fergus Sheil and Brian Irvine.
The Contemporary Music Centre is Ireland's national archive, resource centre and promotional body for new music, supporting the work of Irish composers from the Republic and Northern Ireland. The Centre is supported by the Arts Council/An Chomhairle Ealaíon and the Arts Council of Northern Ireland.
