International Rostrum of Composers 2008

The Contemporary Music Centre is proud to host an open evening and reception to welcome the delegates of the International Rostrum of Composers 2008. The evening takes place in the Centre on Wednesday, 11 June 2008 at 6pm.
The International Rostrum of Composers is organised by the International Music Council. It is a forum for representatives of broadcasting organisations to come together for the purpose of exchanging and broadcasting contemporary art music. Every second year it is held in Paris and each alternative year it is hosted by a different European country. This year the rostrum is being hosted in Ireland for the first time by RTÉ lyric fm.
Almost 60 works will be presented by over 30 broadcasting organisations, from which the delegates will select a number of significant works. These works will then be presented and promoted in concerts and broadcasts by the participating radio stations. Furthermore, all the works presented during the Rostrum will be made available to members of the European Broadcasting Union, ensuring maximum promotion for the composers involved.
The Contemporary Music Centre is Ireland's national archive and resource centre for new music, supporting the work of composers throughout the Republic and Northern Ireland. It is supported by the Arts Council/An Chomhairle Ealaíon and the Arts Council of Northern Ireland.
