For Immediate ReleaseThe Art of Sound -- A Glimpse Into the Creativity of Some Irish Composers4 June 2008 Don't miss another chance to get an insight into the creative minds of some of Ireland's composers. The Contemporary Music Centre's The Art of Sound exhibition is on show as part of the Éigse Festival, which runs from 7 to 15 June 2008 in Carlow town. The exhibition is on display in Carlow Parish Centre, College Road, Carlow from Monday 9 June to Saturday 14 June. It is open to the public from 11am to 5pm each day and admission is free. This multi-media exhibition looks at new music making from the first idea through to the final performance. The creative process usually takes place behind closed doors, but this exhibition brings it to life through striking photographs of the composers and images of their work. The Art of Sound features photographer Eugene Langan's dramatic and perceptive photographs of Irish composers. An audio-guide narrated by Eamonn Lawlor, RTÉ lyric fm, brings to life the music that is displayed, leading to a truly unique and rich experience for the visitor. As an additional event composer Gráinne Mulvey will give a workshop on the visual aspects of composition for primary school students on Wednesday 11 June at 11am. Admission for this is free but booking is essential. The Art of Sound is suitable for school visits and supplemental information is available to help guide teachers and students through the exhibition. Originally devised by the Contemporary Music Centre in partnership with the Music Department of University College Cork, The Art of Sound exhibition at the Éigse Festival, Carlow is made possible through the support of the Arts Council/An Chomhairle Ealaíon.
